Kalbach diary, 1921.

The collection consists of a handwritten daily diary kept from June 7 through Aug. 8, 1921 by Mrs. George Kalbach of Oskaloosa, Iowa during a trip to Alaska and back to Seattle, Washington. Mrs. Kalbach was accompanied by her husband George Kalbach and their son George G. Kalbach. Included in the collection are a typed transcription of the diary with itinerary and index, two clippings, and one letter. Ships and steamboats the Kalbachs traveled on included: S.S. Princess Alice, S.S. Whitehorse, S.S. Yukon, and S.S. Alameda. Places in the United States and Canada visited or traveled through included: Banff, Lake Louise, Vancouver, Victoria, Prince Rupert, Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg, Juneau, Skagway, Haines, Atlin, Whitehorse, Yukon River, Dawson City, Circle City, Fort Yukon, Rampart, Tanana, Tanana River, Nenana, Fairbanks, Chitina, Cordova, San Juan Packing Company, Seward, Anchorage, and Valdez.
